1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) is a regulatory institution established under the Gaming and Lotteries Act No. 34 of 2022 to license and regulate all gaming and lottery activities in the country.

MAGLA intends to undertake the construction of an office complex and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the project from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery. budget adherence, and high-quality results

2.0 ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY:

As a Project Manager, you will coordinate cross-functional teams such as consultants and contractors manage stakeholder expectations, and drive the project forward to achieve its objectives within specified timeframes.

3.0 TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent the client in all aspects of the construction project.
• Ensure all technical aspects of the project meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.
• Prepare and submit project reports to senior management.
• Develop and manage project schedules and budgets
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Attend site and management meetings
• Manage all stakeholders throughout the construction process, i.e., working closely with the client, architect, engineer, contractor, and subcontractors.

4.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in either Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Must be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of working experience in project management in the construction industry.
• Within the 5 years of working experience, s/he should have managed at least one similar works
• Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project or any project management software.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and materials, and project management principles
• In-depth understanding of construction drawings and the ability to interpret them.
• Conversant with applicable standards from Malawi Bureau of Standards of 150 equivalents. National Building Regulations and Building Standards ACT No. 103 of 1977 (as amended).
• Occupational, Safety, Health and Welfare Act No. 21 of 1977 of the Republic of Malawi National Building Regulations and Buildings ACT No. 10 of 1977 (as amended)

5.0 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and materials
• Sound knowledge of construction regulations
• Those with certification in arbitration for construction disputes will have an added advantage.
• Those with certification in sustainable project management for works contracts have an added advantage.

6.0 DURATION OF ENGAGEMENT

• 2-year fixed contract
