Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Ltd invites registered transporters to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the provision of transportation services for tobacco bales from the designated auction floors to our processing plant in Kanengo, Lilongwe, during the 2026 tobacco buying season.

Transport Routes and Estimated

Limbe to Lilongwe - Approximately 20 dedicated trucks and trailers

Chinkhoma to Lilongwe - Approximately 30 dedicated trucks and trailers

Mzuzu to Lilongwe - Approximately 50 dedicated trucks and trailers

EOI Submission Requirements

The EOI must include a detailed cost breakdown per route, covering:

• Fuel cost per kilogram of tobacco
• Diesel consumption (litres) per kilogram of tobacco
• Maintenance cost per kilogram of tobacco
• Labour cost for loading per kilogram of tobacco

Mandatory Requirements for Transporters

• A documented CO2 reduction policy aligned with Alliance One Tobacco's climate goals.
• Baseline emissions data (2020) for tobacco transport expressed in kg CO2 per kg of tobacco.
• A detailed action plan to achieve at least a 42% reduction in emissions by March 31, 2030, compared to the 2020 baseline.
• Interim targets (e.g., 20% reduction by 2026) and monitoring mechanisms.
• Preference will be given to transporters with vehicles equipped with tracking systems and fuel-efficiency measures.
• Insurance coverage for tobacco loss or theft during transit.
• Adequate truck/trailer capacity to manage potential demurrage during off-loading caused by congestion at auction floors.
• Provision of safe overnight parking facilities at the transporter's expense if off-loading cannot occur immediately.

Late submissions will not be accepted. EOIs should be deposited in the EOI/Tender Box located at the Mail Office - Gate No. 3. Please note that facsimile, electronic, or telephone submissions will not be accepted.
